Welcome to BaseballNebraska's Tournament
Central -- your information headquarters for the 2011
Nebraska American Legion Baseball Post-Season.
Nebraska American Legion Baseball has a proud tradition dating back
to 1928 -- just three years after American Legion Baseball was
founded as a national program. During the past eighty-three
years, Legion baseball has taught tens of thousands of young
Nebraskans the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, citizenship,
hard work and competition.

Seventeen
months ago, former American Legion baseball player Greg
Denniston of Nebraska City was catching fastballs from
current Husker Logan Ehlers in the Class B spring state
tournament. PFC Denniston enlisted in the U.S.
Army following graduation and is serving with
the 25th Infantry Division currently deployed in Afghanistan. As we listen to the National Anthem
being played before each game during our post-season
tournaments, we pause to honor those like Greg who
protect and defend our freedom around the globe. |
Along
the way many young ballplayers have developed the competitive drive
and baseball skills that have taken them to the highest levels of
the game -- from the 1939 American Legion World Series champion
Omaha McDevitt's to MLB Hall of Famer Bob Gibson in the 1950's to
more recent Major Leaguers like Kyle Peterson, Brian Duensing, Alex
Gordon and Joba Chamberlain.
Nebraska continues to flourish as a stronghold of American Legion
Baseball, ranking third in the nation in number of teams
participating. This year more than 4,100 ballplayers on 288
teams from Falls City to Wakefield to Chadron to Imperial and points
in between will compete in 42 Area Tournaments at the Class A, Class
B and Class C levels in hopes of moving on to one of four state
tournaments and a possible state championship.
Follow the action here as a network of dedicated volunteers across
the state funnels information from every 2011 post-season tournament
to these pages for easy access by fans of Nebraska American Legion
Baseball.
We'll
post scores and updates via Twitter within minutes after each game
is over with a more complete game summary to follow an hour or two
later. Use our convenient menu system to navigate your way to
each tournament's special section. And, on the main page of
each tournament, you can also click on a link that will take you to
